Dear
Friend,
There have been a
surfeit of editorials surrounding Arafat's death. For example, on Friday,
November 12 alone, there were 32 editorials from my usual newspaper sources.
On that day a number of newspapers had three distinct editorials about
Arafat, and the New York Times had four! I have separated the 23 I have
selected into those specifically about Arafat's life and those about the
implications of his death. Within those categories, the most interesting
and insightful ones are near the top.
Sincerely,
Arthur S. Obermayer
