Dear Friend,
This issue has a lot
of interesting material. I have only included the three most informative
articles under "Response to Tel-Aviv Bombing", but others reaching
roughly the same conclusions appeared in the Washington Post, USA Today,
Boston Globe, Newsday, and Houston Chronicle. There has been considerable
controversy about the Mearsheimer-Walt article, "The Israel Lobby
and U.S. Foreign Policy", some of which is provided here. I would
encourage those who are interested in the subject to read the article
itself at either http://ksgnotes1.harvard.edu/Research/wpaper.nsf/rwp/RWP06-011/$File/rwp_06_011_walt.pdf
(unedited) or http://www.lrb.co.uk/v28/n06/mear01_.html
(published) so that they can judge for themselves. Finally, the pieces
in the "Other Subjects" section contain some important new ways
of looking at things and deserve your attention.
Sincerely,
Arthur S. Obermayer
