Highly esteemed, noble and immensely wise Counsel!

It has to be known to the same highly esteemed one, for some time now, that I at the time of the last war undertook far-reaching and dangerous ventures through shipments of natural produce to the Emperors Main Hospital and through many years of care for this highly esteemed city I provided the military with provisions.

It is known that in the time of need when Hungarian Armies surrounded the City and demanded dreadful contributions that I at once personally advanced several hundred thousand Gulden in Cash with utmost speed. It is also known that after communal consultation with local influential businessmen I conducted business for this local city which at that time hardly anyone could do, and due to the approaching danger no one would.

At last it has come to be known and will shed even more light on the matter due to the enclosed attestations A & B that the business I conducted smoothly and with the utmost sense of duty and so saved the community of this city many thousands of Gulden amidst averting many dangers and unspeakable pains, for example: there were several military receipts which after completed delivery could not be held accountable any more for the esteemed city.

So I used these receipts for other purposes and in that way made good for this local city. Without a passion for glory, may I further point to the surely not insignificant merit through the purchase of a considerable number of municipal bonds so that the city obtained them at a good price and the credit has not sunk as low as it would have without my contribution in this regard.

Witness to my leadership in city business, at all times a proven, restless activity; witness to my enterprising spirit which often caused me the greatest strain and obvious danger to my life and caused me the most worrisome nights, the esteemed local city hall and every citizen who knows me is witness to my integrity, loyalty and honesty.

Witness to my respectable business dealings is the whole local esteemed business community, witnesses are even my enemies. But now I must admit freely that for this enterprise and the whole mediation of that dangerous and incredibly laborious business to which I alluded earlier, I did not do this, hoping (mostly highly uncertain gain) but for the inborn charity I feel for this local city and its surroundings.

Not in the least in the erstwhile budding hope that a frequently wise government would after termination of the war and the endured danger, take pleasure in this peace and take the example of other States and not let my difficult task go unrewarded. I therefore take it upon myself since I am in any case one of the first local Jews with a Contract and business brings me daily to the local area.

Considering the then existing situation, I appeal obediently to the highly esteemed and wise Counsel to consider my small contribution and to state a certain fee and grant me the inestimable, generous favour of local Domicile. Should I be so fortunate not to have asked in vain, a highly esteemed and wise Counsel may be assured to have in me a wealthy and punctual businessman to call their own.

Whose only striving for all future time will be to be worthy of this favour through the unlimited offering of his assets so as to be worthy, to utilize these to the best advantage for our common city.

Hoping, in deep reverence

Highly esteemed, noble and immensely wise Counsel
